Sweet Orange Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup milk, warm
  • 1 0.25 oz package yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp. orange zest, grated
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt

Filling

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. orange zest, grated

Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. orange zest, grated
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:

Pour milk into bowl and sprinkle yeast evenly over the top. Let stand until foamy, about 5 to 10 minutes. Add whole egg, egg yolk, butter, honey, orange zest, and orange juice to the mixture. Beat until combined.

Add 2 cups flour and beat, about 1 minute. Add remaining four and salt. Beat with dough hook, about 7 to 10 minutes. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set dough aside to rise, about 1 hour.

For the filling, combine butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest. Mix until smooth. Roll dough into a large rectangle shape and spread filling evenly over the surface. Roll dough into a log shape and cut into 12 equal rolls. Place rolls in a 9×13 baking pan and set aside to rise, about 30 to 45 minutes.

Bake at 375 degrees for 22 to 25 minutes.

For the frosting, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and salt. Beat until creamy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Once rolls have cooled slightly, spread frosting evenly over top and serve while still warm.
