Storing Winter Squash

December 7, 2022

Just like all Georgia fruits and vegetables, winter squash is freshest when stored properly. A cool, dark, and dry cabinet or pantry is the perfect home for winter squash of all types. Did we mention it can be frozen for later use as well?

  1. Peel
  2. Cut into cubes and remove seeds
  3. Pack into containers or freezer bags, it will keep for up to 1 year

You can also freeze mashed squash depending on how you plan to use it in the future.

Cook covered in water until soft; mash and pack into containers leaving about 2 inches of space at the top.
